About Theme Park Sanc. Michael

Medieval Theme Park Sanc. Michael is a family-run attraction in Raponji, near Svetvinčenat in central Istria. The park covers around 26,000 m² of countryside and is centred on a large wooden castle built by the Otočan family. The attraction has been welcoming visitors since 2017.

Rather than functioning as a historical monument or conventional museum, Sanc. Michael uses a medieval theme as the setting for outdoor family entertainment. Children and adults can move between games, archery, castle areas, labyrinths, tree houses, puzzles and other activities, while farm animals add another dimension to the visit.

The park also includes a tavern serving grilled food, drinks and ice cream, as well as relaxation areas where adults can take a break while children continue exploring. Its combination of open space and varied activities makes it better suited to an unhurried family outing than a quick sightseeing stop.

Explore Medieval Theme Park Sanc. Michael

The wooden castle is the focal point, but much of the experience takes place around the surrounding grounds. Visitors can try archery, explore labyrinths and tree houses, solve four castle puzzles and discover themed areas including the Dragon’s Den, Witch’s Tower and Mini Castle.

Children can also meet farm animals including rabbits, goats, sheep, horses, chickens and turtles. Pony rides are among the guided activities, while the hand-operated wooden carousel and numerous medieval-style games provide additional things to do between the scheduled activities.

The park currently advertises more than 15 medieval activities as well as themed characters and medieval shows. Activities and programmes can vary, so it is worth checking the current schedule before travelling specifically for a show.

VisitPula Our Take

We visited Sanc. Michael with children and found that it works particularly well as a relaxed family outing rather than a short attraction stop. There is enough variety to keep children moving between activities for hours, from archery and animals to pony riding, games and exploring the wooden castle.

What stood out during our visit was the personal atmosphere. The people running the park were friendly and approachable, and the experience felt like something they genuinely enjoy creating. Having lunch inside the park also meant there was little reason to rush elsewhere during the day.

The medieval performance at the end of our visit was a highlight, but shows and activities depend on the programme and season. If a performance is important to your visit, check the current schedule beforehand. For families who want to try several activities, eat and spend time around the grounds, allow at least half a day.
